Course Description

This course consists of current concepts, principles, and theories that are related to nursing. It helps students to focus on the nursing process while providing care to a healthy as well as an ill client, by using the principle of a holistic approach.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the students will be able to:

  • Define health and illness.
  • Describe the physiological and emotional responses of the body to stress and crisis and their management.
  • Describe the factors affecting pain perception and the role of the nurse in pain management.
  • Describe the different channels of communication including principles of effective communication.
  • Describe the procedure of physical examination of a client in detail.
  • Discuss the scope and application of nursing theories in nursing practice.
  • Explain the holistic approaches applicable to nursing practice.
  • Describe the factors affecting changes in nursing practice.
  • Discuss the care of the disabled client.
  • Discuss the ways of being creative in nursing.

Teaching and Evaluation
