Course Description

This course provides students the skills in developing research proposals, carrying out research studies and reporting the result of the research study.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Develop research proposal
  • Conduct research study
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Prepare the research report in a systematic way

Teaching Learning Activities

  • Development of research proposal on the identified nursing problem under the guidance of the supervisor
  • Presentation of proposal before a committee for approval
  • Development of instrument for the research study and establishing validity and reliability of the instrument
  • Seeking administrative approval for collecting data
  • Collection of data considering ethical aspects of the subjects
  • Data processing
  • Analysis of data using appropriate statistical methods
  • Preparation of report using the APA style

Assessment Methods

The evaluation will consist of internal assessment and a final examination.

Internal Assessment (75 Marks)

Internal assessment methods are verbal and written. The breakdown is as follows:

Total Internal 75 marks

Final Examination (25 Marks)

The final examination will be conducted via Viva voce, contributing a total of 25 marks to the final grade.
